It is recommended that you ask for proof of credentials and references from the tutor when making contact. It would also be very unwise to leave a minor unattended with an adult tutor.

Some tutors have certificates from the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) or Disclosure Scotland which shows a certain level of check has been carried out on that individual.
